Evidence has shown that continuity of care (being supported by the same person in pregnancy and birth) improves both the outcomes (for you and the baby) and the overall experience.
Birth Doula support has been associated with a higher chance of spontaneous vaginal birth and a positive birthing experience.
If an in-person birth doula doesn't feel right or isn't possible for you right now, virtual doula support has been shown to be as effective.
Virtual birth doula support is great if you are too busy to attend in-person appointments, have other children or simply prefer to communicate virtually.
